What is postplagiarism?
Postplagiarism is a framework for understanding academic integrity in an era when AI and other emerging technologies are changing how people write, learn, and create knowledge. It encourages renewed thinking about authorship, creativity, attribution, and human responsibility.
Does postplagiarism mean that plagiarism and cheating no longer matter?
No. Postplagiarism is not the abandonment of academic integrity. It does not mean that cheating is acceptable, that attribution no longer matters, or that every use of AI is ethical.
Instead, it recognizes that established rules and practices may not fully address the complexities of contemporary human–AI collaboration. The framework encourages educators, researchers, and institutions to examine how academic values can be upheld as technologies and scholarly practices evolve. The aim is not to remove human responsibility, but to understand it more clearly.
Can I translate the six tenets into another language?
Yes. The tenets have already been translated into more than ten languages. If you are interested in contributing a translation or reviewing an existing one, please contact us. We can discuss translation guidelines, review processes, and appropriate attribution.
Can I write a blogpost for the postplagiarism website?
We welcome thoughtful contributions from scholars, educators, students, and practitioners. We are particularly interested in evidence-informed perspectives on AI, academic integrity, human–AI collaboration, creativity, authorship, and emerging technologies. Please contact us with a brief description of your proposed contribution.
